3.    In the lead sentence, state clearly why you are writing;
4.    If you’re a student, give a brief overview of your academic status (which year, which program, recent graduate, etc.). Explain your specialization or subject area in which you wrote your thesis. Same thing referring to an employee, but with an overview on your current occupational status;
5.    What do you know about the organization? Do web research to learn more about the employer and make reference to something they are doing in your letter;
6.    Why do you want to work there specifically?
7.    Which job/department are you applying to?
8.    Why – based on your academic work and job experience – are you qualified to do this internship/job?
9.    What skills are they seeking that you posses? Mention in letter and demonstrate it in resume;
10.    What are your career goals? What kind of organization would you like to work for?
11.    In general, keep language professional.
