Salaries in Europe

 euro
A recent research have just come out concerning the average salaries in Europe (the EU 15).
Th is research, carried out by Eurispes, showed that the highest average salary is being earned in Denmark ( 42,4 84 euros anually). Denmark is followed by  Sweden, Belgium and France. On the other side, as the last ones we will encounter Portugal and Greece, where by the way, cost of the life is significantly lower.

Other discussion is the power of acquisition (earnings per cost of life) where in the bottom we will again find Portugal and Italy (22,053 euros a year in average). In the case of Italy it means emergency. A country which had showed an impressing growth several years ago, now again faces some serious economic problems.

Problems in the bottom are explained by inflation, which is supposed to be the same (or at least very similar) across the Euro Zone. It can be concluded, that indeed is not the same.

Countries in the bottom of the earning ranking still can benefit from this phenomena. Their labor is cheaper, therefore they have a higher  growth potential.

Salaries in France are

Salaries in France are really high, but you will have huge expenses...
but go to Greece, wonderful country, really low salary and you will spend like nothing on life!

I have lived/studied/worked

I have lived/studied/worked in Sweden, Norway, Italy and Greece. Now I am working quite a lot in UK and Denmark.

Greece compared to Sweden is not that cheap anymore, as it used to be. You will find the taxi's cheap, some restaurants, smokes, bakeries, the rents are less expensive. But differs if you live in Athens or not.

However, the Euro has increased all the prices in Greece. I am sure that even though the living expenses in Greece are a bit lower you would not find it cheap if you had a Greek salary.

Best living conditions based on my experience is in Norway. Even though it is expensive you can earn ridicoulous wages.

On the other hand, Denmark is really expensive.
Most probably what you earn, you spend it right away.

Maybe it is better to leave in a country where you might earn less, but the cost of life is much lower!

Hi there, I live in

Hi there, I live in Portugal, my average wage is about 23000€ after about 34% taxes, it means this is the money I have to live with. I own all the things any other Europeans in the richest countries own. I really don't have a money problem, although I'm paying my own house.
About this discussion, I will say that supermarket prices are a little bit lower but there isn't much difference from France or Spain. As far as I understand, the first job wage, which here is about 700-800€ makes you live better than those 1000€ paid in France for example (only this amount because sometimes they don't work the usual 8 hours a day).
The biggest differences in wages come with work that doesn't need education. Portugal is a more unjust country, it means that differences in wage from boss to employee are bigger than in other European countries.
What I sincerely think can have difference in our favor (if that can be said) is the price of real estate. You can buy a new house for, some times, as much as 1/3 for a corresponding house, say in England or France, and since everybody need a house… the mortgage can take a real toll in the wage in other countries. That’s my opinion, I’m sorry if others do not agree.
That's it, I like it here, wouldn't change but yes for an experience I could go anywhere, the money is not my driving force.
