Stress less job? Yeah, that is what your doctor will subscribe you! My co-editor mate has just had a really nice article on demanding jobs (least stressful jobs) so let me deal with it.
I was sitting in a taxi in Paris with a friend of mine. Somehow I just started talking with the driver, who was explaining that today for the first time he did not have a usual ride at 7.20 am, so this is the reason why he could have taken me. I was actually so happy that I could find a taxi that morning, being so late, that just to express how much I appreciate my luck, I listened to him. He explained how for 8 years, he was always getting this banker guy at 7.20 and taking him to work to one of the most prestigious banks in Paris. He knew something was not okay recently, as sometimes the banker went to see his doctor at that time, instead of work… and now he just simply did not show up, and turns out, our business banker had a heart attack! Not even forty!
Sure, having a high profile job is everyone’s dream. Being the big business guy, or finance guy at one of the top investment banks gives you reputation, career and of course money. You would sacrifice 16 hours a day for work and would just do whatever the business needs you to do! Never turn out your cell phone, you would take your boss’s call at 11.30 pm at home and you would use your iPhone to check your work email under the x-mass tree.
Sure, on the other hand, if you go for a stress less job, say florist, you would work your 8 hours a day, you would have free time to do your own things, but are you sure you can take care of all your bills? Is the stress of not being able to pay every bill bigger than just working way too much?
I personally do not think that life is worth of working 16 hours a day, but I do not want to judge anybody; after all, this is a personal choice! But try to keep your job as calm as possible and have a balanced lifestyle.
